Kamil Mika, BMus, MMus, ARCO, is based in Aberdeen where he serves as Organist at St James Episcopal Church and King’s College Chapel of University of Aberdeen. He is President of Aberdeen & District Organists’ Association and Associate of the Royal College of Organists.
Kamil was educated at the Academy of Music in Cracow under Prof. Andrzej Białko where he graduated with BMus and MMus Diplomas in Organ performance in 2014. He continued his music studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz with Prof. Gerhard Gnann and participated in numerous prestigious organ masterclasses across Europe with such professors as: Olivier Latry, Daniel Roth, Ben van Oosten, Wolfgang Zerer, Harald Vogel, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Guy Bovet, Pieter van Dijk, David Titterington, Jane Parker-Smith and Christophe Mantoux.
Kamil has been recognized with several awards including First Prize on X International Organ Competition in Castellana Grotte (Italy, 2011) and Third Prize on I National Competition of Organ and Chamber Music “Per Artem ad Astra” in Krasnobrod (Poland, 2007). In 2019 he was honored with a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Poland to organize Polish Organ Music Festival in Cracow where he served as a director and a performer.
As recitalist, Kamil has performed at music festivals across Europe, including in Austria, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Ukraine and Wales. His concerts have taken at such venues as the Chapel of Royal Palace in Madrid, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø, Uzhgorod Philharmonic, and the cathedrals of Barcelona, Salamanca, Cagliari, Tallinn, Fulda, Aberdeen, Sheffield and Leeds. He has also performed at the universities of Glasgow and St Andrews, and in prominent churches in Budapest, Padova, Prague, Seville, Tallinn, Vienna and beyond.
He regularly performs on the organ with ensembles, orchestras, and choirs, including annual concerts with the Aberdeen Bach Choir at St Machar’s Cathedral in Aberdeen, as well as a recording for BBC Radio 4 with the University of Aberdeen Chapel Choir.
Kamil's repertoire ranges from Middle Ages to contemporary music including most of Bach's organ works, complete Mendelssohn, Franck and Duruflé organ works, Vierne and Widor organ symphonies, works by Messiaen, Liszt, Reger, Schumann, Brahms, a vast Renaissance and Baroque repertoire from France, England, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain and Portugal. He often includes Polish organ music of different eras to his recital programmes.
Kamil teaches organ at St James Episcopal Church and King's College Chapel of University of Aberdeen and piano at Sonata Piano School at Holburn Street in Aberdeen.
